    • OBITUARY:
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on April 3rd, 2025, of John “Michael” McIver of Summerside, PE and formerly of Hamilton, Ontario aged 64 years. Michael was born in Hamilton, Ontario to his parents Dorothy McIver (Sonier) and the late Ronald McIver.

Survived by the following brothers and sisters Louis, Juliette (Carmen Dimascio), Jennifer (Brian Baker), Jill (Craig Drennan).

Also lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews Curtis, Mitchell, Genna, Christopher, Melyssa, Laura, Cameron, many great nieces and nephews and all his Island cousins whom he was so close to.

Mike was a 4th degree Knight with the St. Paul's Knights of Columbus. He took great pride in greeting each parishioner into the church on Sunday mornings. They will miss his kind, welcoming smile.

Mike joined the crew at Summerside Community Connections when he moved to Summerside in 2004. He enjoyed woodworking at the shop and took great pride in his final product. Mike's family will forever be indebted to this organization for all they have done to make Mike's life more fulfilled through inclusion.

We have no words to describe what the Summerside Fire Department meant to Mike. They included him in every aspect of their daily outings, including handing out hats to school children, tours to family and friends, the annual Christmas and Lobster Carnival parades where he always rode shotgun. He will be forever missed at the Friday BBQ's. Mike was a lover of ice cream, hot dogs and cheezies.

Mike had a passion for music of all genres and enjoyed dancing at every dance, especially with all his friends at the RCAF Wing in Summerside.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, April 7th, 2025, then to St. Pauls Roman Catholic Church for funeral mass at 10:30 am. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Visiting hours on Saturday from 4:00-7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory to Summerside Community Connections Inc or Summerside Fire Department would be greatly appreciated.

We will always remember Mike with loving respect and feel his presence every time we see a red fire truck.
