- OBITUARY:
Eileen M. Clark, age 61, of Adams, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27th at Williamstown Commons surrounded by her family and a very special nurse after a 7-year battle with early onset Alzheimer's disease. Eileen was born on April 2, 1960 in North Adams, MA to Helen R. Dempsey and the late John M. (Jack) Dempsey. Eileen attended schools in Adams and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School with the Class of 1978. She went on to attend North Adams State College and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1982 with a degree in Sociology. At the age of 16, Eileen began working at her family business, Martin's Shoe Store, where she continued to work until 2001. Eileen went on to become the Executive Director at Berkshire Dance Theatre for several years while her daughter danced there and was best known as a "BDT Betty." Eileen most recently worked at MCLA as an Administrative Assistant in the Admissions Office until August 2014.
Eileen was a voracious reader and enjoyed collecting books. She also loved to challenge herself with a good crossword puzzle. Eileen could always be found at a sports field, a dance studio, or volunteering at her children’s schools in their younger years. If Eileen were asked what her perfect day would look like, it would be spent on the beach in Wells, Maine with her family.
Eileen leaves behind her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 35 years, Roni Clark and her daughter, Kara Clark (Chris Coons). She is also survived by her mother, Helen Dempsey; a sister, Carrie Alibozek (Douglas); a brother, John Dempsey (Deborah); a brother in law, David Clark (Stefanie); her grandson, Braydin Clark; her granddaughter, Gabriella Clark; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Eileen also leaves behind a close friend and former caregiver, Sandra Overlock, and an extended family at 25 Adams Rd in Williamstown. In additional to her father, Eileen was predeceased by her beloved son, Derek J. Clark, and her stepfather Sydney F. Ayres.
The Clark family would like to the extend their gratitude to the staff at Williamstown Commons, as well as Hospice Care in the Berkshires, for their extraordinary care and compassion. Calling hours for Eileen will be held on Saturday, May 8th, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Due to current regulations, use of face masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced. Funeral services and burial will be private.
