  • Notes
    • My mother, Mary McIver, was born in Newton, Prince Edward Island on May 24th, 1906.
She was the 8th child born to Hugh McIver and Caroline McGuigan. She was raised on the family farm and received her early education in the one-room schoolhouse in Newton.

In the early 1930’s she moved to the U.S.A. where she entered the nursing profession. She graduated from Jersey City Medical Center and received her nursing license in 1935.

My father, Lester Malley was born in Batavia, New York on March 11th, 1906. He was raised in Ilion, New York. He graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. June 8th 1931 with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service. He was employed with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until his retirement. He passed away October 23rd, 1981. Mom and Dad were married November 23rd 1939. They were blessed with two children, Catherine (Kay), and William (Bill).

My mother had the ability to make every visitor to our home feel welcome. She especially enjoyed her relatives from P.E.I. They were always greeted with a loving smile and a big hug. She had a great interest in sports and politics and with this background the conversation was always lively.
