  OBITUARY Ruth A. Simons died at her home on August 3, 2022 after a brief struggle with cancer. She was thrilled to have just celebrated her 89th birthday in July with family in attendance. Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Elsie Kordick. After high school, Ruth worked as a secretary where she met her husband, George Simons; they married in 1954. George’s military service and later career moved them to various locations, including Florida, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania (Allentown, West Chester, and Erie). They moved to North Carolina in 1990, and Ruth remained in Winston-Salem after George’s passing in 2006. Ruth had a brief career in real estate while in Erie but was primarily dedicated to raising her 3 daughters and managing a busy household. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Leanne. She is survived by daughter Maura Pelinsky (Carl) of Fairview, PA; daughter Kara Fuller (Dan) and granddaughters Jorja and Danica of Clarkston, MI; granddaughter, Rebecca (Michael) - who was like a 4th daughter to her; and grandson Justin Pelinsky (Casey) and great grandson Dylan Burns of Erie, PA. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Kathleen Bayko of Manchester, NH and Phyllis Kordick of Palm City, FL; and brother-in-law, Charles (Joanne) Simons of West Suffield, CT; and many nieces and nephews. The family is honoring Ruth’s request of no calling hours or services, and will have a private gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ruth’s honor to the wonderful hospice organization that helped make her last days more meaningful and comfortable.
