    • OBITUARY:
      Peacefully, at her son’s cottage, surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday September 3, 2016 in her 94th year. Ita Smith, (nee McIver) long-time resident of Petawawa and more recently of Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke, beloved wife of the late John Gerald Smith. Loved and cherished mother of Colombe Grondin, Victoriaville QC, Susan O’Donnell (Mike), Margaret Won (Ray) and Carol Smith all of London ON, John Smith (Ruth) of Innerkip ON, Charlie Smith (Melissa) of Munster ON, Mary Jo Sitter (Mike) of Whitby and David Smith (Rona) of Petawawa. Predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Ann. Loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Peter and Margaret Ann (nee McKenna) McIver. Predeceased by her sisters Sister Margaret Pierre CSJ, Bernadine McEvoy, Eileen McAvinn, Adele Coady, Tina Kenny and Teresa Rodgers and brothers Justin, Eugene, Aden, Bill, Joseph and Cletus McIver. Sister-in-law of Theresa McIver. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday September 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Petawawa, followed by cremation. Final Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery, Pembroke at a later date. In memory of Ita, donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
