      Sister Eileen Ann Kelley, 86, died at 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2012, in Lourdes Hall, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Everett, Mass., to Joseph and Evelyn Kennedy Kelley and was baptized Mary Clare.

      Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on July 22, 1945, and professed final vows on Jan. 23, 1953. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master’s degree from the Providence College in Rhode Island. In her 67 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered for 26 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland and Washington, D.C. For 17 of those years she served as principal. She was principal and teacher at St. Patrick in Terre Haute from 1967-1970. In 1971 she was elected a councilor for St. Raphael Province. In 1976, she was elected secretary general of the Congregation, a position she held for 10 years. She later served as Congregation Archivist for 14 years. Beginning in 2006, she dedicated herself totally to the ministry of prayer

      She is survived by two sisters, Jane Driscoll of Stoneham, Mass., and Eileen Kelley of Reading, Mass.; plus nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a sister, Sister Evelyn Kelley, SP; and a brother, the Rev. John J. Kelley.

      The wake is on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with the Wake Service at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel R. Hopcus presiding. Burial is in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence. Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
