- OBITUARY
Mr. George H. Simons of 215 Turnbridge Dr., Lewisville, NC 27023, died on Friday, March 3, 2006 after an extended illness with cancer. He was born on September 14, 1931 in Manchester, N.H. to Gustav H. Simons and Helen McKenna Simons. Mr. Simons served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1958 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked in various engineering capacities in the fields of nuclear power and cryogenics prior to joining Lord Corp of Cary, N.C. He retired from Lord Corporation in 1996 with 30 years of engineering and management positions. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marjorie Jones and Lorraine Smith. Mr. Simons is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth Simons and three daughters, Leanne Floyd (Charles) of Pfafftown, N.C., Maura Pelinsky (Carl) of Fairview, Pa. and Kara Fuller (Daniel) of Clarkston, Mich. and four grandchildren, Rebecca Lovewell, Justin Pelinsky, Jorja and Danica Fuller. Also surviving are two sisters, Arline Rom of New Hyde Park, N.Y. and Kathleen Bayko of Manchester, N.H. and two brothers, Charles Simons of West Suffield, Conn. and Harry Simons of Bedford, N.H. as well as many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends at the home in Lewisville between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
