    • OBITUARY:

      BEDFORD -- Harry G. Simons, 75, died Aug. 15, 2010, after a brief period of declining health.

      He was born in Manchester on July 4, 1935, to Gustave and Helen (McKenna) Simons.

      He was a graduate of West High School, Class of 1953, and was employed by Public Service of N.H. for 35 years as an electrical superintendent. For more than 23 years Harry resided in Laconia prior to moving to Bedford in 1994.

      He was recognized by the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction as a Prince of the Royal Secret 32nd degree in 1963. For many years, he held memberships in the Laconia Kiwanis Club, N.H. Jockey Club, and the N.H. Trotting and Breeding Association. He was a member of the Advisory Board for N.H. Technical College in Laconia, and served in the N.H. National Guard 172 Field Artillery for eight years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at the race track and was the proud owner of his greyhound Simons Best.

      IN HIS LIFE: Family members include long-time companion, Jeannette Burley of Bedford; two daughters, Sharie Pothier and her husband Michael of Bedford and Sheryl Simons of Maine; two step-daughters, Joanne Hale of Bedford and Beverly Paulhamus of Amherst; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arline Rom of New York and Kathleen Bayko of Manchester; a brother, Charles Simons of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Frances (Shreve) Simon; a step-son Gary Shreve; and siblings Marjorie, Lorraine, and George.

      SERVICES: Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Burial services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Bedford 03110.
