  Rhonda was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Wildlife Biology. She was an accomplished wildlife artist interested in spiders, reptiles, polar bears, and amphibians. While living in Oregon, she and her husband, Donald “Kit” Crump Jr, both wildlife biologists, conducted habitat surveys on the endangered spotted owl while employed by the Bureau of Land Management. Prior to that, she worked with the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. At the time of her death, she was pursuing a degree in landscape horticulture at Cabrillo College. Rhonda died on March 1, 1995 in a hiking accident near her home in Santa Cruz, California.
