  Joseph Francis Kelly was born in 1920 in Albany, P.E.I. and in his early years worked at farming and repairing farm equipment and blacksmithing. In 1943 he joined the Navy as a shipwright and in 1945 married Ethel Birch who was also in the Navy. After their discharge they returned to live in Albany. Joe received a lot off the home property, moved a house and a shop on to it, and worked at the repair business again. They moved to Saint John, NB where Joe worked at construction work and automobile mechanics. In 1956, in partnership with his brother Fred, he started an automobile repair business known as Lancaster Battery & Ignition. The business was sold in 1964 when Joe moved to the United States where he lived in Woburn, MA and worked at Sunnyhurst Dairy in Stoneham, MA. In 1971 Joe and Ethel returned to Saint John and Joe worked at Lancaster Battery & Ignition. Researched by Desmond McIvor OBITUARY: The death of Joseph Francis Kelly, husband of Ethel M. (Burch) occurred on Saturday May 19th, 2007 at his residence. Joseph was born on June 24th, 1920 in P.E.I. to the late Frank and Mabel (Hagan) Kelly. Besides his wife, Joe is survived by two daughters Maureen Anne (Michael) Boyce and Marlene Mary Beckingham both of Saint John, two sisters Kathleen Carmichael of Massachusetts and Margaret (John) Foley of Saint John, seven grandchildren Stephanie, Jason, Tom, Kevin, Christopher, Keith and Alex, one great grandson Kohan and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by two brothers Gerald and Fred and a sister in law Ester Kelly. Joe was involved with the Golden Oldies Bowling League.
