Eunice Eileen McIver
OSTERVILLE — Eunice Eileen McIver, 97, died March 7, 2010.
She was born the third of six siblings and raised in Boston. Eileen, as she was known, earned her bachelor's degree with honors from Boston Teachers College, following which she embarked on a teaching career at the junior high level. It was during this period, in 1941, that she married her husband, Dr. John McIver, whom she had known since elementary school. She left teaching to raise her family. John predeceased her in 1980 after 39 years of marriage. She relocated to Osterville in 1981.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Mark of Weymouth and J. Kent and wife Janice of Randolph; daughter Nancy Schaefer and husband Hermann of Osterville; and her sister Winifred Roach of Baltimore. Eileen also leaves six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, the arts and most of all her grandchildren. She will be remembered as an outgoing, petite, caring, intelligent, wise lady with a wonderful smile.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Whites Path, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
