- OBITUARY:
Stefania 'Stella' Holt, 92, of Portland died on Feb. 6, 2009 at Clover Manor in Auburn with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 28, 1916 in Portland, a daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Sliwinska) Bojarczuk. Stella attended local schools and was a 1934 graduate of Portland High School. Stella was a former communicant of St. Louis Church in Portland. She worked for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for 25 years, and the Maine State Board of Nursing. Stella was part of St. Louis Church Woman's Sodality, the Maine State Employees Association, Cheverus Mothers Club, and Sacred Heart Mothers Club. She was on the Maine Council of Senior Citizens and part of the Maine Publicity Bureau. She was an avid bowler who was part of three bowling leagues and a member of the Senior Olympics, winning several gold medals. Stella especially enjoyed traveling and she also loved to dance. She was predeceased by her first husband John E. Holt in 1964, her second husband Gerald G. Gallant in 2000; a sister Mary Scott, and a brother Walter Bojack. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 4-7 p.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church, 279 Danforth Street, Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
