- OBITUARY:
MOLNAR, ALEX son of Sandor and Margaret Molnar, was born on Aug. 2, 1934 in Raymond, AB. Alex attended various Southern Alberta Schools until moving to Vancouver Island with his family, where his father worked as a coalminer. Alex moved back to Fort Macleod in 1950 where he worked in construction until becoming an equipment operator for the Alberta Government in 1960. During his time with the government, he was very active in the A.U.P.E. holding various positions in the union. He was a Union Steward for 17 years and a Provincial Executive member during which time he attended numerous conventions to forward the union. He became a lifetime member of the A.U.P.E. in 1993. Alex was a 53 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Fort Macleod. Alex married Frances Gorman on Nov. 29, 1958 in Fort Macleod. After living many years there, where they raised their 3 children, Alex and Frances moved to Lethbridge in 1998.
Alex was pre-deceased by his wife Frances and his sister Mary Rescanski. He is survived by his siblings: Margaret Pinter, Bill (Anne) Molnar and Eileen (Don) Wellwood. Alex is also survived by his children Paula (Stuart) Rogers of Nobleford, Stephen (Laurie) Molnar of New Orleans, Louisiana and Theresa Molnar of Lethbridge. Also lovingly remembered by his 5 grandchildren Ethan & Kaitlynn Rogers and Alexandra, Dillon and Joseph Molnar.
Prayers will be said on Friday evening, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN FUNERAL HOME, 327-10 Street South, Lethbridge.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 318-10 Street South Lethbridge, with Rev. Tim Boyle Celebrant. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
